My Profile
I began my counselling career in 1995 and have achieved an Advanced Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, a Diploma in Counselling, a Diploma in Person Centred Art Therapy, and a Diploma in Counselling Supervision. I also have certificates in Hypno/psychotherapy and CBT (Cognitive behaviour therapy). I continuously have ongoing training.
My roots are in Person Centred Counselling, with the belief that everyone has the capability of tapping into their own inner resources to enable them to cope in an ever changing world of uncertainties. I believe that each human being is unique with unique potentials, which can be explored and developed. I integrate Person Centred Approach, CBT, solution focused,
Person Centred art therapy, and hypno-psychotherapy.
I am a member of B.A.C.P. and abide by their code of ethics as part of my professional and ethical responsibility. I have regular counselling supervision to monitor the effectiveness of my counselling practice. Client identities remain anonymous.
I initially started counselling in the loss and bereavement area. I moved onto general counselling at MIND and worked as a counsellor with the Romford Counselling Service at the Y.M.C.A and took over as manager of the service; retiring in 2005 to focus on my private business. I was a part time college lecturer. I have worked with the Youth offending team as a counsellor and with Youth Zone. I currently have a private practice for counselling and counselling supervision.
I work with adults and also with children between the ages of 06 and 18
Counselling sessions are normally scheduled weekly, for at least 50 minutes in duration. The initial session is an assessment which is followed by five 50minute weekly sessions. A review session is planned for the 7th week to find out whether counselling is helping and to enable a client to continue or discontinue. Counselling may last from 1 session to several sessions, maybe some months or even longer.
